GREAT BARRIER REEF
What to do on the Reef?
The reef is around 50 nautical miles from Airlie Beach in Queensland.
Scuba-diving on the Great Barrier Reef is one of the highlights on a visit to the Whitsundays and whether you are an experienced diver or a beginner, there is something for you to see the wonders of the underwater world.
The Great Barrier Reef has long been a top holiday destination in Australia and its appeal is never wavering, along with the fantastic snorkel spots (the world’s best in our opinion) the region also has many hidden fringing reefs around world renowned beaches & islands.
BEACH ISLAND HOPPING
The Whitsunday Islands and coast all have fringing reefs of coral gardens, with abundant marine life to explore. At some beaches it is possible to walk straight off the beach to snorkel over stunning fringing reefs.
If you can only visit one location in the Whitsundays, make it Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. This beach is the most beautiful beach in all of Australia and is the most photographed. From the aqua blue waters of the Whitsundays, you can cruise, sail or jet ski and see some of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world. Snorkelling, swimming, and sightseeing from the deck of a luxury boat the Whitsundays has it all.
AIR ADVENTURES
The Whitsundays is best seen from above the water. Enjoy a scenic flight over Heart Reef, the Great Barrier Reef, Hill Inlet and Whitehaven Beach to complete your Whitsundays experience.
